East Brisbane – Riverfront Apartment

East Brisbane

241 Wellington Rd, East Brisbane 04 High Res

This Brisbane riverfront apartment marks a beautiful full-circle moment with much-loved repeat clients, who first engaged my services for their Kingscliff holiday home renovation back in 2020. Now embracing a new chapter and a downsized lifestyle, they returned once again, this time seeking to breathe new life into their waterfront apartment.

While the bones of the home were solid, the apartment was ready for some love and a little design magic in key areas. A strong focus was placed on improving storage and functionality, leading to the creation of a stunning custom entertainment joinery piece that anchors the living space. The television was recessed for a streamlined finish, flanked by illuminated bookcases with integrated LED lighting, while generous cabinetry beneath provides practical storage. Styled with books, treasured objects and layered accessories, the joinery now reads as both functional and sculptural.

To preserve continuity throughout the home, the existing tiled flooring was retained, while tired carpets in the bedrooms were replaced. Outdated wallpaper was removed and the apartment was refreshed with a clean, modern paint palette, instantly lifting and lightening the interiors.

The master suite was thoughtfully reimagined to enhance daily rituals; with a custom makeup desk and additional storage incorporated into the walk-in robe. This space now doubles as a refined dressing room and a discreet home office, intentionally positioned away from the home’s main entertaining zones. Custom wardrobes were fitted throughout the apartment, while subtle yet impactful updates, such as new bathroom mirrors, hardware, and carefully considered finishes, added layers of personality and polish.

Beyond the renovation, I worked closely with the clients to furnish and style the apartment, sharing many trips back and forth to design suppliers to curate the perfect pieces. The final result is a harmonious blend of form and softness: an oversized statement rug that reads like an artwork, organically shaped nesting coffee tables, and beautifully curved forms in the buffet and dining table that soften the apartment’s architectural lines.

Artwork was selected with great care, each piece chosen to complement both the interiors and the ever-changing riverfront outlook beyond. The completed home feels calm, elevated and deeply personal, a refined retreat perfectly suited to its new lifestyle and surroundings.
